    House Tax – Self-Assessment System

    Overview

To strengthen the financial autonomy of Nagar Palikas in Uttar Pradesh, a self-assessment system for property tax has been implemented under the guidelines of the 74th Constitutional Amendment and the Uttar Pradesh Municipal (Property Tax) Rules, 2000. This system ensures transparency and fairness in tax calculation.

Key Features of the Self-Assessment System

    • Citizens can assess their own property tax based on the site map and construction details submitted.
    • Standard government forms are provided online and at the Nagar Panchayat office.
    • Where maps/details are missing, assessment is done by municipal tax officers.
    • System is logical, impartial, and ensures fair tax collection for all types of properties.

    Objectives

    • Assess property tax based on property size, land use, and building structure.
    • Modernize and simplify the tax assessment process in all urban areas.
    • Take strict action for false declarations or intentional under-assessments.
    • Reduce processing time compared to manual/paper-based systems.
    • Enable a uniform and citizen-friendly taxation model across the state.

    Public Communication

To increase awareness, hoardings and public notices are being placed across key locations. Citizens are encouraged to use the self-assessment system through official portals and helpdesks set up by the Nagar Panchayat of Pakadi Bharat Khand.
